The Lammas throw 2 points away to Hayes Gate

Today was not the day to start giving out early Christmas presents, but unfortunately for Lammas the lads were definitely in a generous mood today. The Lammas started this game in a confident mood, moving the ball with tempo and working hard to get it back when we did not have the ball. Hayes Gate were not the quickest of teams, Ben Jacob and Jamie Redrup were pressing hard and creating opportunities through there pace down the right flank, George Baldock could of and should of opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes, when blasting over from 6 yards after good work from Jacob, how ever Baldock did get his chance to score ten minutes later when a long ball over the top was there to be won and Baldock made sure with a fine finish 1 nil to the Lammas. Two minutes later and the Lammas could of extended there lead, a cross was put into the box and for some reason beyond any of us on the bench, the referee decided to award a penalty, Dean Greenwood took the penalty and cooly slotted the ball wide of the goal Doh!! Lammas continued to dominate in which was becoming a very one sided affair, but just couldn't find that second goal and the half ended 1 v 0 to the Lammas...

The second half began and for some reason the Lammas had lost all momentum and started to struggle, we couldn't keep possession of the ball and our distribution was poor, Hayes Gate started to grow in confidence and anxiety started to sweep throughout the Lammas, Ade made a great one on one save and Redrup made several last ditch tackles to keep the game at one nil, unbelievably Lammas were awarded another penalty, this time George Baldock took the spot kick, but smashed it against the bar, the miss gave Hayes Gate the emphasis and confidence to score there much deserved equaliser on 80 minutes, we did still create chances to win the game, but the composure that was needed in the last third just wasn't there to win the game.

Santa Nathan and his Elves Gary, Pat and Phil were very disappointed with the 2nd half performance and can assure you all that no more giving away presents or points will be acceptable before Christmas.

So 1 v 1 was the final score and two points were definitely dropped today, let's hope we can get back to winning ways on Wednesday, when we face Cobham at home in the cup
