STAINES & LAMMAS (MIDDLESEX) U23R (3) 5 WORCESTER PARK RESERVES (1) 1
The heatwave continued as Staines hosted two games at the Laleham Recreation Ground. Despite being pushed into playing the first half himself, Manager Lamar Besidonne would have been happy that his side delivered their most encouraging performance to date, beginning when Umran Sankoh opened the scoring in the 10th minute. The visitors levelled on the half-hour mark through #7, but Sankoh (36 mins) and Mitchell Whelan (43 mins) made it a comfortable 3-1 at the interval. Both sides kept up a good pace in the second half, but in the 83rd minute Sankoh completed an excellent hat-trick with a well-struck free-kick, and he went on to add Staines’ fifth in stoppage time. A player from each team was booked in the dying moments.
